A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives on the death of Kathleen "Kay"
Gibbons Favrot.
WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing, on December 13,
2025, of Kathleen "Kay" Gibbons Favrot; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen was born on July 17, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city
she loved dearly; she graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart and attended
Maryville College of the Sacred Heart in St. Louis, Missouri; her education instilled in her
an enduring devotion to faith, service, and community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Favrot was a woman of deep faith and boundless generosity; she
was devoted to the Academy of the Sacred Heart and served on the school's board and in
numerous volunteer roles; she was enthusiastic, selfless, and unwavering in her support of
the school and countless individuals and charitable organizations; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Favrot loved the Christmas season; she was an incredibly generous
gifter, and she relentlessly requested people's wish lists; she found immense joy in giving
to others and ensured that all of her loved ones felt remembered and celebrated; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Favrot was an expert grammarian and loved the English language;
her grandchildren can attest that no grammatical error could get past her keen eyes; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen "Kay" Gibbons Favrot is survived by her four children, James
Favrot (Sheila), Kathleen Favrot Van Horn (Charlie), Semmes Favrot (Catherine), and
Caroline Favrot Trube (John); twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host

of beloved nieces and nephews; she will be deeply missed, but the legacy of her loving
generosity shall live on in the hearts and minds of those who were privileged to have known
and loved her.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Kathleen
"Kay" Gibbons Favrot and does hereby extend sincere wishes that her family, friends, and
loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of her beautiful life.
