1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1703.1(A), relative to registration for the homestead
3 exemption; to require the assessor in St. Charles Parish to provide a form for the
4 permanent registration of the homestead exemption for taxpayers in that parish; to
5 provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.
6 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 47:1703.1(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
9 §1703.1. Permanent registration of homestead exemption; designated parishes
10 A. The tax assessor for the parishes of Acadia, Allen, Ascension,
11 Assumption, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bienville, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell,
12 Cameron, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia, DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, East Carroll,
13 East Feliciana, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson,
14 Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lafourche, LaSalle, Lincoln, Livingston, Morehouse,
15 Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Richland,
16 Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St.
17 Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Union,

1 Vermilion, Vernon, Washington, Webster, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, West
2 Feliciana, and Winn shall provide a form to property owners within the parish for
3 permanent registration for the benefits of the homestead exemption provided for in
4 R.S. 47:1703.

6 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
7 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
8 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
9 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
10 effective on the day following such approval.
