A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend Joe Horn on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana Sports Hall
of Fame.
WHEREAS, each year the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana
collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of
sports figures who embody the character, skill, talent, and accomplishment worthy of being
named to the Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes Joe
Horn; and
WHEREAS, Joe Horn, a dynamic and electrifying wide receiver, earned the
admiration of fans and teammates alike through his remarkable playmaking ability,
leadership, and passion for the game of football; and
WHEREAS, born in New Haven, Connecticut, on January 16, 1972, Horn rose to
prominence in the National Football League and established himself as one of the most
productive wide receivers in the history of the New Orleans Saints franchise; and
WHEREAS, Horn joined the Saints in 2000 as an unrestricted free agent after
beginning his professional career with the Kansas City Chiefs and immediately made an
impact, helping lead the Saints to the NFC West Division title and a playoff appearance in
his first season with the team; and
WHEREAS, during his seven seasons in New Orleans from 2000 through 2006, Horn

compiled an extraordinary 523 receptions for 7,622 receiving yards and 50 touchdowns,
placing him among the most accomplished receivers in franchise history; and
WHEREAS, Horn's fifty touchdown receptions broke the previous team record and
helped establish him as one of the premier scoring threats in Saints history; and
WHEREAS, Horn set a franchise record with eleven touchdown receptions during
the 2004 season and delivered one of the most memorable single-game performances in
Saints history when he recorded four touchdown receptions against the New York Giants on
December 21, 2004; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Saints, Horn recorded 28 one-hundred yard
receiving games, a team record at the time, and set a franchise single-season record with 94
receptions and 1,399 receiving yards in 2004; and
WHEREAS, from 2000 through 2002, Horn enjoyed one of the most productive
stretches by a wide receiver in franchise history, averaging 88 receptions, 1,306 receiving
yards, and eight touchdowns per season while earning selections to the Pro Bowl in each of
those three seasons, as well as again in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Horn concluded a distinguished twelve-year NFL career with 603
receptions, 8,744 receiving yards, and 58 touchdowns while also spending time with the
Atlanta Falcons; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his exceptional impact on the franchise and his
beloved status among Saints fans, Horn was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of
Fame in 2010 during his first year of eligibility; and
WHEREAS, Horn's legacy continues in the next generation, as his son, Jaycee Horn,
was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and has
emerged as one of the league's promising defensive backs; and
WHEREAS, through his outstanding athletic achievements, charismatic personality,
and dedication to the game of football, Joe Horn has left a lasting legacy with the New
Orleans Saints and has brought pride and excitement to the fans of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Joe Horn on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana Sports Hall of
Fame.
