BY SENATOR JACKSON-ANDREWS AND REPRESENTATIVES FISHER AND
MOORE
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the Wossman High School Wildcats boys' basketball team
upon being the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2026 Division II Non-
Select state runner-up.
WHEREAS, the Wossman High School Wildcats basketball team completed a
sensational season, earning the title of Division II Non-Select state runner-up at the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) basketball championship in March
2026; and
WHEREAS, the Wildcat team finished the 2025-26 season with an impressive 22-8
overall record and competed in its third consecutive LHSAA state championship game; and
WHEREAS, senior Jontae Turpin Jr. contributed twelve points, six rebounds, and
three steals in the championship game, while senior shooting guard, Roosevelt Dean Jr.,
added fourteen points; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Casey Jones, along with Assistant Coaches O. Brass, A.
Burton, C. J. Jones, D. Riley, D. Comanche, and D. Greely, led the Wildcats deep into the
playoffs, while athletic trainer Jody Powell kept the players in top-notch form; and
WHEREAS, proudly donning the purple and gold each game are C. J. Williams Jr.,
Jontae Turpin Jr., Cam Washington, Deterrius Williams, Dontavious Daggs, Teborious
Taylor, Paul Lewis, Teandre Triplett, Kaden Sales, Antoine Austin, Jaterrance Long,
Roosevelt Dean Jr., Zalyn Jones, Robert Clark III, and Justin Wilson; and
WHEREAS, all members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the season, each making vital contributions to the team's success; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season, built on hard work, commitment, and the
relentless pursuit of excellence, upholds the proud tradition of Wossman High School and
brings great pride and honor for the school, community, and state.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate the Wossman High School Wildcats basketball team upon being
the LHSAA 2026 Division II Non-Select state runner-up.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Casey Jones, head coach of the Wossman High School Wildcats basketball team, and Dena
Sampson, principal of Wossman High School.
