A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the Wossman High School Lady Wildcats basketball team
on capturing their fifth-straight state championship.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) annually
conducts the state basketball championships to showcase the highest level of high school
athletic competition across Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Wossman High School Lady Wildcats have established themselves
as one of the premier high school girls' basketball programs in the state through exceptional
performance, teamwork, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Otis Robinson, the Lady Wildcats
have achieved remarkable success during his first five seasons, compiling an impressive
139-25 overall record and advancing to the state championship game each year; and
WHEREAS, on March 7, 2026, at the University Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University, Wossman defeated LaGrange High School by a score of 50-39 in the Division
II Non-Select championship game; and
WHEREAS, the victory secured the Lady Wildcats' fifth consecutive state
championship, an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects the program's sustained
excellence, discipline, and commitment to success; and
WHEREAS, Wossman set the tone early in the championship contest by opening the
game with a dominant performance that produced a 16-1 lead at the conclusion of the first
quarter; and
WHEREAS, sophomore Heaven Weeks delivered a remarkable performance and was
named the game's Most Outstanding Player after recording twenty-six points, sixteen
rebounds, four steals, one assist, and one block; and
WHEREAS, junior MaKaiya Johnson contributed significantly to the win with
eleven points, ten rebounds, four steals, and an assist, while sophomore London Landers
added seven points, nine rebounds, and two assists to help secure the victory; and

WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 Wossman Lady Wildcats basketball team is led by Head
Coach Otis Robinson Jr., Assistant Coaches Gerline Guillaume, Angel Coleman, and
Martina Johnson; and
WHEREAS, displaying unwavering grit and discipline are players Morgan Wilhite,
Heaven Weeks, London Landers, MaKaiya Johnson, Krysten Lewis, Errieunna Artis, Taylar
Wright, Ashanti Smith, Lyrics Robinson, Anesti Johnson, Kaitlynn Timber, Isabella Jones,
Jade Robinson, and Antonia Collins, supported by team managers, Wil'lashai Cherry and
Jamaiyah Scoby; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats' continued success reflects not only outstanding
athletic ability but also a strong commitment to academic excellence, teamwork, and positive
character both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, the Wossman High School players, coaches, faculty, and supporters
have brought great pride and distinction to the school, the city of Monroe, and the state of
Louisiana through their outstanding achievements.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend and congratulate the Wossman Lady Wildcats upon winning the LHSAA 2026
Division II Non-Select state championship and achieving the extraordinary milestone of five
consecutive state titles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Otis
Robinson, head coach of the Wossman High School Lady Wildcats basketball team, and
Dena Sampson, principal of Wossman High School.
