A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend Jonathan Lucroy on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana Sports
Hall of Fame.
WHEREAS, each year, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches,
Louisiana, collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited
number of sports figures who embody the character, skill, talent, and accomplishments
worthy of being named to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame has selected Jonathan Lucroy
as a member of its distinguished class of inductees; and
WHEREAS, Jonathan Lucroy was an early standout at Umatilla High School, where
he collected a number of honors throughout his career, including All-Area first team, All-
State first team, and All-Central Florida second team, as well as having his high school
jersey retired in 2011; and
WHEREAS, Jonathan Lucroy's collegiate career began at the University of Louisiana
at Lafayette from 2005 to 2007, where he established school records with 184 runs batted
in, 414 total bases, and 54 doubles, while ranking among the top five in hits, home runs,
batting average, and slugging percentage; and
WHEREAS, as a freshman in 2005, he earned Louisville Slugger Freshman All-
American and Second Team All-Sun Belt honors after batting a .379 batting average with
48 runs batted in; and
WHEREAS, he captured First Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors for the second
time and was named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Third Team All-
American after batting a .360 batting average with eighteen home runs and a program-record
174 single-season total bases; and
WHEREAS, he led the Ragin' Cajuns to Sun Belt Conference titles and NCAA
Tournament appearances before being selected in the third round of the 2007 Major League
Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers; and

WHEREAS, Jonathan Lucroy enjoyed a distinguished twelve-year Major League
Baseball career from 2010 to 2021, playing for nine teams and compiling over 1,000 hits,
217 doubles, 108 home runs, and 548 runs batted in across 1,210 games; and
WHEREAS, he earned Major League Baseball All-Star selections in 2014 and 2016
and wass ranked fourth in the selection of the National League Most Valuable Player in
2014, the same season in which he set the Major League Baseball single-season doubles
record for a catcher with 53 doubles; and
WHEREAS, Jonathan Lucroy represented the United States in international
competitions, participating in the 2013 World Baseball Classic and helping Team USA
capture the gold medal in 2017; and
WHEREAS, following his retirement, he has remained committed to the
development of young athletes through coaching at the high school level and participating
in the Team USA Youth National Team Program, while prioritizing faith, family, and
community; and
WHEREAS, his career reflects excellence, leadership, sportsmanship, and
dedication, bringing pride to the state of Louisiana, and serving as an inspiration to future
generations of athletes.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Jonathan Lucroy on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana Sports
Hall of Fame.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Jonathan Lucroy.
