A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend and celebrate the Sam Houston High School Broncos baseball team upon
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2026 Division I Non-Select
state championship and to recognize the team for an extraordinary season marked by
resilience, unity, determination, and back-to-back state titles.
WHEREAS, entering the 2026 season as defending state champions, the Broncos
embraced the pressures and expectations that accompany success while remaining grounded
in a simple but powerful team philosophy: to embody the spirit of "F.A.M.I.L.Y. — Forget
About Me, I Love You", placing team success above individual achievement; and
WHEREAS, fueled by belief in one another and driven by a shared goal of "Run it
back 2026", the Broncos dedicated themselves throughout the season to continue the proud
tradition of Sam Houston baseball; and
WHEREAS, through relentless preparation, teamwork, and perseverance, the
Broncos advanced once again to the state championship series and found themselves in a
familiar and defining moment with the championship on the line in a decisive game three;
and
WHEREAS, showing the poise and confidence of true champions, Sam Houston
responded with a commanding 4-0 victory over Dutchtown to secure back-to-back Division
I Non-Select state championships and further cement the Broncos' place among the elite
baseball programs in Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Broncos displayed remarkable resilience throughout the series,
overcoming a game one loss and rallying together to win the next two games, proving once
again that championship teams are defined not by adversity, but by how they respond to it;
and
WHEREAS, junior pitchers Brytn Gardner and Coleton Donaldson delivered
outstanding performances in the championship-clinching victory, combining for a two-hit
shutout and once again rising to the occasion in one of the season's biggest moments; and

WHEREAS, senior Carson Christ capped an unforgettable high school career with
a historic championship performance, including a record-setting tenth home run of the
season and exceptional defensive play, earning Outstanding Player honors for the
championship series; and
WHEREAS, while individual achievements helped define memorable moments, the
success of the Broncos was built upon the collective effort, sacrifice, and determination of
every player, coach, manager, student, parent, and supporter who contributed to the team's
remarkable journey; and
WHEREAS, members of the 2026 Sam Houston High School Broncos varsity
baseball team are AK Batterton, Adam Baumgarten, Carson Christ, Jet Conner, Charlie
Donaldson, Cameron Heflin, DJ Johnson, Kolton Miller, Austin Richard, Cooper Wiersema,
Coleton Donaldson, Owen Galley, Brytn Gardner, Bennett Harlow, Tanner Laughlin, Ty
Smith, Peyton Bell, Brock Blessington, Pat Conner, Quinn Fiasconaro, Kannon Keiser,
Grant Oustalet, Riggins Portie, Jack Pruitt, Parker Smith, Hudson Anderson, Bennett
Hearod, and Jett Hebert; and
WHEREAS, the Broncos team managers, Jack Gilley, JoLeigh Mistric, Mason
Stewart, and Sylar Hymel, provided invaluable support, leadership, and dedication
throughout the championship season; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Chad Hebert guided the Broncos with exceptional
leadership, vision, and commitment while continuing to build upon the proud tradition of
Sam Houston baseball; and
WHEREAS, assistant coaches Matt Keller, Robby Norris, Kaden Walker, Cameran
Christ, Mike Abshire, and Bart Anderson played an integral role in the team's success
through their mentorship, preparation, and unwavering support of the student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 Sam Houston Broncos inspired the school and community
with their energy, humility, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence, bringing immense
pride and excitement to Southwest Louisiana and to the entire state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, by capturing consecutive state championships, the Broncos have
secured their place in the proud history of Louisiana high school baseball and created
memories that will endure for generations.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend, honor, and celebrate the Sam Houston High School Broncos baseball team upon
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2026 Division I Non-Select state
championship and upon achieving the extraordinary accomplishment of back-to-back state
titles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana expresses its
deepest appreciation to the players, coaches, families, faculty, students, alumni, and loyal
supporters whose dedication and passion helped make this championship season possible.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Sam
Houston High School Head Baseball Coach Chad Hebert.
