SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Rachel Henry on being selected the 2025-2026 "Student of
the Year" at Live Oak High School in Livingston Parish.
WHEREAS, Rachel Henry has been named the 2025-2026 "Student of the Year" for
Live Oak High School, an honor that reflects her exceptional character, leadership, and
dedication to excellence; and
WHEREAS, Rachel has demonstrated remarkable academic achievement, earning
an impressive ACT score of 31 and maintaining an outstanding 4.2 grade point average,
reflecting diligence, discipline, and a strong commitment to learning; and
WHEREAS, Rachel has distinguished herself academically by earning more than
forty hours of college credit through advanced placement and dual enrollment course work,
demonstrating both intellectual curiosity and a strong work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Rachel has been recognized as the Livingston Parish 2025-2026
"Student of the Year" and honored as a Louisiana Department of Education 2025-2026
"Students of the Year Regional Honoree"; and
WHEREAS, Rachel's commitment to the arts is evident through twelve years of
piano study at Rushing Piano Studios and eleven years as a member of the Livingston Parish
Public Schools gifted and talented music program; and
WHEREAS, Rachel has faithfully served for six years as a vocalist and pianist on
the Live Oak Church worship team and has actively contributed to her church community
through service in children's, student, and worship ministries; and
WHEREAS, Rachel also worked for two years as an administrative assistant at Live
Oak Church, where she organized summer camps, coordinated mission trips, assisted with
volunteer coordination, and helped manage church events, demonstrating initiative,
responsibility, and leadership; and

WHEREAS, Rachel has been actively involved in athletics as a four-year member
of the Live Oak High School track and field team, competing in the javelin and discus events
and earning two varsity letters and being named a Louisiana High School Athletic
Association All-Academic athlete in track and field; and
WHEREAS, Rachel has shown exceptional leadership among her peers through her
service as a three-year officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club and as an active
member of the Beta Club and Ambassador Club; and
WHEREAS, Rachel plans to attend Louisiana Christian University where she plans
to pursue a degree in psychology and ultimately earn a master's degree in counseling, and
where she has also earned the prestigious Smith Scholarship Award, a full four-year
scholarship that includes tuition, room, and board; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Henry's academic accomplishments, leadership qualities, and
vision for service bring honor to Live Oak High School, Livingston Parish, and the state of
Louisiana, and exemplify the promise of the next generation of leaders.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Rachel Henry on being selected the 2025-2026
"Student of the Year" at Live Oak High School in Livingston Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Rachel Henry.
