SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Parker Posey on being selected the 2025-2026 "Student of
the Year" at Holden High School in Livingston Parish.
WHEREAS, Parker Posey has been selected as the 2025–2026 "Student of the Year"
at Holden High School, an honor reserved for a student who exemplifies academic
excellence, leadership, character, and service; and
WHEREAS, Parker has distinguished himself as an exceptional scholar, maintaining
a 4.0385 grade point average, earning a composite ACT score of 30, and completing
thirty-six hours of college credit while still enrolled in high school; and
WHEREAS, Parker has demonstrated remarkable leadership through active
involvement in numerous student and civic organizations including Beta Club, Library Club,
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), 4-H, Future Farmers of America (FFA), and Student
Council, where he was selected by peers and faculty to serve in key leadership roles such as
FFA Voting Delegate, FCA Executive Leader, and Student Council Executive Officer; and
WHEREAS, Parker has excelled in athletics and mentorship, earning recognition as
a three-time state qualifier and first-place finisher in his weight class on the Holden High
School powerlifting team, while also serving as a coaching assistant for the school's baseball
team; and
WHEREAS, Parker's passion for history and government has led to exceptional
academic and civic accomplishments, including service as a page intern for the Louisiana
Legislature, recognition as Louisiana Beta Club State Speech Winner at the National Beta
Club Convention, and honors as a Louisiana Literary Rally District Winner and state
qualifier in history and government; and
WHEREAS, Parker's commitment to service and community well-being is further
reflected in his receipt of a Joe Burrow Foundation Grant to expand mental health wellness
initiatives at Holden High School, as well as his dedicated volunteer service with the Mighty
Moms Program and the USDA Food Bank at Killian Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Parker plans to pursue a degree in political science at either Tulane
University or Louisiana State University and to continue his education by earning a law
degree, with the goal of serving the people of the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, inspired by his grandmother's military service and supported by his
parents, Darrel and Jessica Posey, Parker remains deeply rooted in his Holden High School
community and he embodies the values of service, integrity, and leadership.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Parker Posey on being selected the 2025-2026
"Student of the Year" at Holden High School in Livingston Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Parker Posey.
