A RESOLUTION
To designate Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as Funeral Directors Day at the Louisiana State
Capitol, to recognize the National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day,
and to express sincere appreciation for the dedicated service provided by funeral
directors and morticians throughout the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, funeral directors and morticians provide compassionate guidance and
professional care to families during times of loss by assisting them in honoring the lives and
memories of loved ones with dignity, respect, and reverence; and
WHEREAS, these professionals provide comfort and serve communities across the
state by helping grieving families navigate the complex process of planning memorial
services and making final arrangements for their loved ones; and
WHEREAS, funeral service professionals also play an essential role in safeguarding
public health by adhering to strict professional standards, ensuring the proper care of the
deceased, and maintaining the integrity of funeral service practices; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association works to promote the
highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in the industry while
serving Louisiana families with compassion and care; and
WHEREAS, Funeral Directors Day at the Louisiana State Capitol offers an
opportunity for members of the Louisiana Senate to recognize the important contributions
of funeral service professionals and to honor the essential role they play in communities
throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day was
established in 2008 and acknowledges the dedication, professionalism, and service of those
who provide comfort and support to families experiencing loss; and
WHEREAS, it is important to acknowledge the contributions funeral directors and
morticians provide and express sincere gratitude for their unwavering commitment to
serving the people of Louisiana.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association and its members across
the state for their dedicated service to and compassion for the people of Louisiana during
times of loss and grief.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Wednesday, March 11, 2026, is hereby
designated as Funeral Directors Day at the Louisiana State Capitol, the Louisiana Funeral
Directors Association is hereby commended for its outstanding support to its members and
the community, and the National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day is hereby
recognized.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mrs.
Retanna Mire, president of the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association.
