A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana upon the death of Patricia Ann McKinney Pendergrass.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that the Senate of the Legislature of
Louisiana has learned of the passing of Patricia "Patty" Ann McKinney Pendergrass on
February 23, 2026, at the age of seventy-one; and
WHEREAS, Patty was born on June 11, 1954, and was the first born of her parents,
George David McKinney and Jo Ann Bryan McKinney; and
WHEREAS, following her graduation from Louisiana Tech University, Patty
answered the call to serve her nation in the United States Air Force from 1976 until 1980,
attaining the rank of captain, exemplifying commitment, dedication, and patriotism; and
WHEREAS, Patty spent most of her life in her beloved community of Minden,
Louisiana, where she was deeply involved in community service, engaged in many of the
ministries of First Baptist Church of Minden, and devoted to her students at Glenbrook
School; and
WHEREAS, Patty was exceptional, capable, conscientious, and compassionate, and
all her actions were guided by three great loves: her relationship with Jesus Christ as her
Lord and Savior, deep devotion to her family, and abiding love for her hometown of
Minden; and
WHEREAS, she was persistent and determined, traits she inherited from her
grandmother, Elsie Bryan, and when diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of
twenty-four, Patty never let the disease define her by living a life exhibiting great
perseverance, courage, and resilience, which inspired many; and
WHEREAS, Patty is survived by her devoted husband of forty-eight years, Ty
Pendergrass; three sons: Tristan, Jeremy, and Andy; grandchildren: Luke, Lillian, Jacob,
Calvin, Alfred, Josie, and Davy; sisters: Kim and Jody; and a host of family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Ann McKinney Pendergrass leaves a lasting legacy of faith,
love, compassion, and determination and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she
touched.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Patricia
Ann McKinney Pendergrass.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Patricia Ann McKinney Pendergrass.
