SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Brogan Murphy Cormier on being selected the 2025-2026
"Student of the Year" at French Settlement High School in Livingston Parish.
WHEREAS, Brogan Murphy Cormier is an exceptional senior at French Settlement
High School whose academic excellence, leadership, and integrity distinguish him as a most
deserving student of the year; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of French Settlement, Brogan has demonstrated
sustained academic rigor by completing advanced placement, honors, and dual enrollment
course work while maintaining an unweighted grade point average of 3.98 and a weighted
grade point average exceeding 4.10; and
WHEREAS, Brogan earned a composite score of 27 on the ACT, including scores
of 29 in both English and mathematics, and achieved a PSAT/NMSQT score that placed him
among the upper national percentiles; and
WHEREAS, his performance on Louisiana LEAP assessments reflects consistent
excellence, with multiple "Advanced" and "Mastery" designations in English, biology,
algebra, geometry, and United States history; and
WHEREAS, Brogan has received numerous academic honors, including awards in
chemistry, forensic science, United States history, digital media, English honors,
mathematics, and first response, as well as the Leadership Pillar Award and the J.E.D.I.
Award recognizing his commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion; and
WHEREAS, Brogan has distinguished himself as a student leader through his active
involvement in French Settlement High School's Beta Club and FCA/FCS programs,
qualifying for the National Beta Club competition multiple times and earning a top-five
national finish at the 2025 National Beta Convention; and
WHEREAS, Brogan has further demonstrated initiative and preparedness for future
success by earning Adobe Certified Professional credentials, completing career and technical
course work, participating in service initiatives, and contributing to extracurricular athletics;
and

WHEREAS, Brogan has been accepted to Louisiana Tech University, where he plans
to pursue a degree in chemical engineering, reflecting both his academic ambition and
commitment to contributing meaningfully to his community and state; and
WHEREAS, Brogan Murphy Cormier's achievements exemplify the highest
standards of scholarship, leadership, and character fostered by French Settlement High
School and the Livingston Parish Public School System.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of the state of
Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Brogan Murphy Cormier upon being
selected 2025-2026 "Student of the Year" at French Settlement High School in Livingston
Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Brogan Murphy Cormier.
