SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Delores Murray on being inducted into the USA Track and
Field National Officials Hall of Fame.
WHEREAS, the USA Track and Field (USATF) National Officials Hall of Fame
honors individuals who exemplify the highest standards of officiating excellence, integrity,
and dedication to the sport of track and field; and
WHEREAS, inductees into this prestigious hall of fame have demonstrated
exceptional commitment to ensuring fairness, equity, and professionalism in athletic
competition, while also serving as role models and mentors to future generations of officials;
and
WHEREAS, on December 4, 2020, Delores Murray was inducted into the USA
Track and Field National Officials Hall of Fame in recognition of her exemplary service and
distinguished career in track and field officiating; and
WHEREAS, Delores Murray has consistently demonstrated superior skill, leadership,
and professionalism as a track and field official, earning the respect and deep admiration of
her peers, who consider her "a gift to our sport"; and
WHEREAS, her expertise has been recognized on the state, national, and
international stage, as evidenced by her distinguished record of officiating at multiple United
States Olympic Trials, USATF National Championships, NCAA National Championships,
high school state championships, and international competitions; and
WHEREAS, beyond her officiating achievements, she has a heart for and a deep
commitment to community service, volunteering with organizations such as Lafayette Parks
and Recreation, Louisiana Special Olympics, and multiple Louisiana collegiate track and
field officials associations; and
WHEREAS, her excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including
the USATF Officials Service Award and the USATF President's Award; and

WHEREAS, Delores Murray's officiating career reflects the highest ideals of
sportsmanship, leadership, and service, and her contributions have left a lasting legacy on
the sport of track and field in Louisiana and beyond.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Delores Murray on her induction into the USATF
National Officials Hall of Fame.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Delores Murray.
