SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40

A RESOLUTION
To recognize and commend the members and board of directors of the Louisiana School
Boards Association.
WHEREAS, the Louisiana School Boards Association (LSBA) represents the sixty-
eight locally elected public school systems in the state of Louisiana and has a membership
comprised of six hundred thirty elected school board members; and
WHEREAS, the members of the LSBA work daily to improve the quality of
education provided to each student enrolled in their respective school systems; and
WHEREAS, the LSBA is governed by a board of directors, the members of which
are elected by their peers from among the association's membership; and
WHEREAS, the members of the LSBA board of directors not only serve their local
communities and schools, but all of Louisiana's public school systems and students by
volunteering their time to promote, support, and advocate on behalf of all of Louisiana's
public school students.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and recognize the members of the Louisiana School Boards
Association and the LSBA 2026 board of directors: President Taft Kleinpeter of Ascension
Parish; President-elect Debra Schum of St. John the Baptist Parish; Vice President Brandon
Harrell of St. Tammany Parish; Immediate Past President Dr. Katherine Lemoine of St.
Bernard Parish; District One directors: Becky Weber of St. Charles Parish and Buffylynn
Charpentier of Lafourche Parish; District Two directors: John DeFrances of Ascension
Parish and Dr. LaVerne Cook of Bogalusa City Schools; District Three directors: Hannah
Smith-Mason of Lafayette Parish and Deidra Shell of Vernon Parish; District Four director
Aimee Dupuy of Avoyelles Parish; District Five directors: Reba Phelps of Natchitoches
Parish and Melinda Hardy of Red River Parish; presidential appointees: Brad Norris of
Iberia Parish, Joshua Hebert of Assumption Parish, and Dr. Janet Pope, LSBA's executive
director.
