2026 Regular Session ENROLLED
SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 52
BY SENATOR EDMONDS
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Intercessors for America for their Spiritual Heritage Project and to
acknowledge Almighty God as the Author of liberty on the two hundred fiftieth
anniversary of the founding of these United States of America.
WHEREAS, we acknowledge Almighty God as Sovereign over the nations and the
Author of Liberty, and we bow before Him in thanks as a state on this two hundred fiftieth
anniversary of the founding of these United States of America; and
WHEREAS, with hearts full of gratitude, we thank Almighty God for the blessings
that He has bestowed upon the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, with reverence, we acknowledge Almighty God and His providence that
has guided us through trials and triumphs as a state and a nation; and
WHEREAS, with humility, we confess the times that we have strayed from His
ways; and
WHEREAS, two and a half centuries ago, our founders, in the heat of the American
Revolution and the hope of a transformation, declared, "All men are created equal and
endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness…"; and
WHEREAS, our founders looked to Almighty God as the source of true liberty and,
in doing so, laid the cornerstone of a nation that would become a beacon of freedom to the
world; and
WHEREAS, Almighty God has poured out blessings upon our state and nation with
abundant natural resources, vast and varied landscapes, and a people endowed with ingenuity
and resilience; and
WHEREAS, the Constitution the founders framed is undergirded by moral conviction
and spiritual awareness and unleashed the greatest experiment in self-government the world

has ever known; and
WHEREAS, from the fields of Gettysburg to the beaches of Normandy, from the
bridge in Selma, Alabama to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Almighty God has been our
refuge and strength and our source of freedom and liberty; and
WHEREAS, O Lord, we acknowledge that we have not always walked in Your ways;
and
WHEREAS, we have often trusted in our wisdom, pursued idols of power and
prosperity, and turned a blind eye to injustice; and
WHEREAS, the sins of pride, division, and indifference have stained our state and
national conscience; and
WHEREAS, on this historic day, we rededicate this nation to Almighty God, the one
true God and we do so, not in presumption, but in repentance; and
WHEREAS, we plead for the mercy purchased by the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus
Christ, and ask that You would renew our hearts and restore our land; and
WHEREAS, we beseech the Spirit of God Almighty to move across our state and
nation, from the busy halls of Congress to the quiet corners of rural towns, from the peaks
of the Rocky Mountains to the shores of the Atlantic and the Pacific; may the truth of the
goodness of Almighty God be proclaimed, His justice upheld, and His grace embraced; and
WHEREAS, we ask Almighty God to raise up a generation of heros like those of the
Bible, such as Daniel, Esther, and Elijah, who were men and women of courage, conviction,
and compassion, and may the heros of our generation stand firm in the face of compromise
and speak truth in love; and
WHEREAS, let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing
stream; and
WHEREAS, we ask Almighty God to awaken dry bones, revive weary hearts, and
make us, once again, a people after Your own heart; and
WHEREAS, we entrust this state and nation to Almighty God, as did our founders
who acknowledged you as the Creator of all; and
WHEREAS, we ask that America and the state of Louisiana be blessed as we walk
in the ways, goodness, and mercy of Almighty God.
