SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 54

A RESOLUTION
To commend Randy K. Haynie on receiving the 2025 Opus Award from the Ogden Museum
of Southern Art.
WHEREAS, Randy K. Haynie, a veteran lobbyist and owner and president of Haynie
& Associates, is a founding member of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art is to broaden the
knowledge, understanding, interpretation and appreciation of the visual arts and culture of
the American South through its events, permanent collections, changing exhibitions,
educational programs, publications, and research; and
WHEREAS, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art holds the largest and most
comprehensive collection of southern art and is recognized for its original exhibitions, public
events and educational programs which examine the development of visual art alongside
southern traditions of music, literature, and culinary heritage to provide a comprehensive
story of the South; and
WHEREAS, twenty-three years ago, Mr. Haynie helped to secure approximately
seven million dollars in funding for construction of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art
facility in the vibrant New Orleans' Warehouse District; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie has been instrumental in the museum's growth over the
years, most recently assisting with the acquisition of the Patrick F. Taylor Library and
Stephen Goldring Hall; and
WHEREAS, Randy K. Haynie is deserving of recognition for his life-long dedication
to the arts and humanities in the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie, an avid collector of state flags, has two of the four existing
Louisiana flags that has notably eighteen stars; and
WHEREAS, he also has a collection of Louisiana currency, owning more than five
thousand Louisiana issued notes dating back to 1812 when Louisiana became a state; and
WHEREAS, as an art collector, Mr. Haynie owns several beautiful watercolors and
extravagant paintings by various Louisiana artists; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie has served in civic and cultural organizations including the
Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, Hilliard Art Museum, University of Louisiana
at Lafayette Foundation, Louisiana Governors' Mansion Preservation Foundation and the
Arts and Culture Fund of the Community Foundation of Acadiana; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie is the immediate past chair of the Louisiana Endowment
for the Humanities, is the past chair of the Hilliard Art Museum in Lafayette, and has been
recognized with lifetime achievement awards from the Louisiana Partnership for the Arts,
the Acadiana Center for the Arts and the Louisiana Association of Museums; and
WHEREAS, Randy K. Haynie was honored with the prestigious Opus Award on
October 18, 2025 at the annual "O What a Night!" Gala hosted at the Ogden Museum of
Southern Arts.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Randy K. Haynie is commended for
receiving the 2025 Opus Award from the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and for his
countless contributions to the arts and humanities in the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Randy K. Haynie.
