A RESOLUTION
To commend and celebrate Rosa Mae Briley Pitre on the momentous occasion of her one
hundredth birthday.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Rosa Pitre for her incredible life and to
commend and celebrate her on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday; and
WHEREAS, Rosa was born on June 9, 1926, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, to Lee and
Clemence Briley, and following the untimely passing of her first husband, Calvin Fontenot,
she was later married to Harry Pitre; and
WHEREAS, she is the proud and loving mother of five children: David Paul
Fontenot, Arlene Pitre Coreil, Janice Pitre Colligan, Peggy Pitre Tate, and John Pitre; and
WHEREAS, Rosa was a devoted housewife and worked as a skilled seamstress,
reliable telephone operator, and a respected department manager for West Bros.; and
WHEREAS, she is a woman of deep and abiding faith, a devout Catholic and a
faithful member of Sacred Heart Church in Ville Platte, Louisiana, who prays the Rosary on
a daily basis and receives Holy Communion every week; and
WHEREAS, Rosa currently resides at the Village de Memoire in Ville Platte; and
WHEREAS, reaching the remarkable milestone of one hundred years is a rare and
extraordinary achievement, one that reflects a life richly lived and a legacy that will continue
to bless generations to come.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and celebrate Rosa Mae Briley Pitre on the momentous occasion of
her one hundredth birthday and does hereby extend sincere and best wishes as she begins a
new chapter of life as a member of the exclusive club of Louisiana's centenarians.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Rosa
Mae Briley Pitre.
