A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Shows upon his retirement from
the United States Marine Corps after twenty-three years of honorable and dedicated
military service.
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Shows has rendered more than
twenty-three years of faithful and distinguished service to the United States of America as
a member of the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying the highest traditions of military
professionalism, leadership, and devotion to duty; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Shows is a proud graduate of St. Amant High
School and continued his education at Louisiana State University before earning his Juris
Doctor degree from Tulane University Law School, demonstrating a commitment to
academic excellence and public service; and
WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished military career, Lieutenant Colonel Shows
served in the United States Marine Corps as Staff Judge Advocate, providing essential legal
counsel and support to commanders and service members while upholding the rule of law
and the core values of honor, courage, and commitment; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Shows answered the call of duty during times of
conflict and was deployed in support of military operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq,
contributing to the defense of freedom and the security of the United States and its allies; and
WHEREAS, his final assignment in the United States Marine Corps was at the
Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where he continued to serve with distinction at the highest
levels of the Department of Defense; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his exemplary service, dedication, and sacrifice,
Lieutenant Colonel Shows has earned the respect and gratitude of his fellow Marines, his
community, and the citizens of this nation; and
WHEREAS, upon the occasion of his retirement, it is fitting and proper to recognize
Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Shows for his unwavering commitment to duty and to extend
best wishes for continued success and fulfillment in the years ahead.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Shows upon his
retirement from the United States Marine Corps after twenty-three years of honorable and
dedicated service to his country and does hereby express sincere appreciation for his
contributions to the defense of the United States and the protection of the freedoms enjoyed
by all Americans.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Shows as an expression of the Senate's highest regard and best
wishes upon his retirement.
