A RESOLUTION
To commend Mrs. Elizabeth Kimball Lewis on the occasion of her 100th birthday.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Elizabeth Kimball Lewis was born on March 10, 1926, in
Maringouin, Louisiana, to her loving parents, Georgie and H.M. Kimball Sr.; and
WHEREAS, she attended the tiny Shady Grove Elementary School, housed on a
plantation, where her love for music on the radio inspired her to take dance and piano
lessons; and
WHEREAS, she began attending Rosedale United Methodist Church with her family
as a child, and continued to play the piano there for many years until the church's closure in
2016; and
WHEREAS, she continued her education at Shady Grove High School, where she
sang in the Shady Grove Girl's Chorus, before graduating in 1943, and attending Soule
Business College in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, following her schooling, she worked for Rathborne, Hair, and Ridgway
veneer company, and later for H.M. Kimball Esso, also known as Kimball Oil Company,
from which she retired in 1999, after a dedicated career; and
WHEREAS, in 1943, she met the love of her life, Roy Lewis, whom she married on
June 12, 1946, and they enjoyed sixty-seven wonderful years together; and
WHEREAS, she and her husband opened and operated Roy's Cafe in Livonia,
Louisiana, which became a fixture in the community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Lewis and her husband were blessed with four children, eleven
grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, eleven
step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, she has been an active member of multiple community organizations,
including the Maringouin Home Demonstration Club, serving on the board of Rosedale
United Methodist Church, the Maringouin Twin Bayous Lioness Club, the Maringouin Lions
Club, and the Eastern Stars; and

WHEREAS, at one hundred years young, Mrs. Lewis finds joy in watching wildlife
in her backyard and, above all, cherishes spending time with her family, friends, and beloved
chihuahua, Lola; and
WHEREAS, her life exemplifies faith, love, resilience, and service, while leaving an
indelible mark on the community of Maringouin through her kindness, dedication, and
prosperous journey.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Elizabeth Kimball Lewis on the joyous
occasion of her one hundredth birthday and does honor her for an extraordinary life filled
with faith, enduring love, and meaningful contributions to her family, friends, and
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mrs.
Elizabeth Kimball Lewis.
