BY SENATORS KLEINPETER AND PRICE
A RESOLUTION
To commend and recognize Iberville Parish on its historic, cultural, and economic
significance, while expressing support for critical infrastructure investments,
including a new Mississippi River Bridge and designate April 15, 2026, as Iberville
Parish Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish, established on March 31, 1807, is one of Louisiana's
original nineteen parishes and remains a vital contributor to the history and development of
this state; and
WHEREAS, named in honor of French explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, the
parish embodies a legacy of leadership, resilience, and cultural pride that continues to define
its people and communities; and
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish serves as a gateway to the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest
river swamp in the United States, offering significant ecological, recreational, and cultural
value that enhances Louisiana's identity and tourism economy; and
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish is home to a major industrial corridor along the
Mississippi River, including world-class chemical and manufacturing facilities that provide
thousands of jobs, strengthen the state's tax base, and supports both regional and national
economic interests; and
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish continues to experience significant industrial expansion
and economic growth, positioning it as a key driver in Louisiana's future prosperity; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of Iberville Parish Day at the Louisiana State Capitol
serves as an important opportunity to highlight the parish's achievements, strengthen
collaboration with state leadership, and advocate for continued investment in infrastructure
and economic development; and
WHEREAS, the development of a new Mississippi River Bridge in the Baton Rouge
region, inclusive of Iberville Parish, is a critical infrastructure priority that will improve
traffic congestion, enhance public safety, support industrial expansion, and serve as a
transformative catalyst for regional and statewide economic growth.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and recognize Iberville Parish on the occasion of the second annual
Iberville Parish Day at the Louisiana State Capitol and expresses appreciation for the parish's
enduring contributions to the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does
hereby express support for continued strategic investment in infrastructure, including the
development of a new Mississippi River Bridge, to ensure sustained economic growth,
improved connectivity, and enhanced quality of life for the citizens of Iberville Parish and
the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Iberville Parish President and the Iberville Parish Council.
