SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 87

A RESOLUTION
To commend Lacie Thomas Fontenot for being named the 2026 Louisiana School Health
Service Provider of the Year by the Louisiana Department of Education.
WHEREAS, Lacie Fontenot is a state and nationally certified speech-language
pathologist, who has faithfully served students within Livingston Parish Public Schools for
more than twelve years; and
WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Lacie Fontenot has provided exceptional speech
and language services to students in Livingston Parish, including at Live Oak Middle School
and Live Oak Junior High, helping countless young people develop the skills necessary to
communicate effectively and succeed academically and socially; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her exemplary dedication and impact, Lacie Fontenot
has been honored as the 2026 Louisiana School Health Service Provider of the Year by the
Louisiana Department of Education, a distinction that reflects both professional excellence
and meaningful contributions to student health and development; and
WHEREAS, through the School Health Provider of the Year program, the Louisiana
Department of Education recognizes and celebrates some of Louisiana's most exceptional
school health providers; and
WHEREAS, this program provides an opportunity to acknowledge providers who
demonstrate superior health services in schools and support the expansion of those services;
and
WHEREAS, Lacie Fontenot's service extends well beyond the traditional
responsibilities of a speech-language pathologist and demonstrates a deep and abiding
commitment to the school community; and
WHEREAS, she has taken a leadership role in organizing the Angel Tree project,
helping to provide Christmas gifts and support for students and families in need, all while
fostering a spirit of generosity and care within the school community; and

WHEREAS, Lacie Fontenot also dedicates her time overseeing the school's
self-sustained food pantry, working diligently to provide weekend food bags for students
facing food insecurity, and ensuring that basic needs are met so that students are better able
to focus on their education; and
WHEREAS, through her compassion, initiative, and unwavering dedication, Lacie
Fontenot exemplifies the highest ideals of public service and serves as a role model for
students, educators, and health service providers in the state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Lacie Thomas Fontenot on being named the 2026 Louisiana School
Health Service Provider of the Year and does hereby express sincere appreciation for her
outstanding contributions to the students and families of Livingston Parish and the state of
Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Lacie
Thomas Fontenot.
