SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 97

A RESOLUTION
To designate Monday, April 27, 2026, as Rural Mental Health Day in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, rural communities in Louisiana face significant barriers to accessing
mental health care, including provider shortages and limited resources; and
WHEREAS, individuals with serious mental illness and youth with serious emotional
disturbances, particularly those served by Medicaid, rely on mental health rehabilitation
providers for essential, community-based care; and
WHEREAS, these providers are the backbone of Louisiana's behavioral health
system, improving stability, reducing hospitalizations, and strengthening families and
communities; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Rural Mental Health Alliance plays a vital role in
advocating for rural mental health, supporting providers, and expanding access to care across
underserved areas.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby designate Monday, April 27, 2026, as Rural Mental Health Day in Louisiana
and does hereby recognize and honor the Louisiana Rural Mental Health Alliance and
mental health rehabilitation providers for their critical contributions to the well-being of
Louisiana's rural communities.
