1Sec. 1. Single-use propane canister disposal study. Resolved: That the
2 Department of Environmental Protection shall study the current infrastructure for the
3 disposal of single-use propane canisters and make recommendations regarding
4 improvements to allow residents of the State to safely dispose of used canisters. In
5 conducting the study, the department shall also research the viability of implementing a
6 statewide ban on propane canisters that are not manufactured to be refillable.
7Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, by December 3, 2025, the Department of
8 Environmental Protection shall submit a report on its findings and recommendations under
9 section 1 to the Joint Standing Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. The
10 committee is authorized to report out legislation related to the report to the Second Regular
11 Session of the 132nd Legislature.
12SUMMARY
13 This resolve directs the Department of Environmental Protection to study the current
14 infrastructure for the disposal of single-use propane canisters and make recommendations
15 regarding improvements to allow residents of the State to safely dispose of used canisters
16 and directs the department to perform research on the viability of implementing a statewide
17 ban on propane canisters that are not manufactured to be refillable. The department is
18 directed to submit a report by December 3, 2025 to the Joint Standing Committee on
19 Environment and Natural Resources, which may report out legislation to the Second
20 Regular Session of the 132nd Legislature.
