1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §14 is enacted to read:
3§14. Biological males' participation in competitive female athletic programs and use
4of facilities
5 A school administrative unit or an elementary school, secondary school or
6 postsecondary educational institution in the State that receives any state funding may not
7 allow a person whose biological sex assigned at birth is male to participate in a competitive
8 athletic program or activity that is designated for females or to use a facility that has been
9 designated for use solely by females.
10SUMMARY
11 This bill prohibits a school administrative unit or an elementary school, secondary
12 school or postsecondary educational institution in the State that receives any state funding
13 from allowing a person whose biological sex assigned at birth is male to participate in a
14 competitive athletic program or activity that is designated for females or to use a facility
15 that has been designated for use solely by females.
