1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §1015, sub-§3-A is enacted to read:
33-A. Contributions to gubernatorial and legislative candidates; no primary
4election. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, for the purposes of
5 contribution limits under subsections 1 and 2-B:
6 A. For a gubernatorial candidate who is not on a ballot in a primary election, the
7 contribution limit in any one election cycle is the same as a gubernatorial candidate
8 who is on the ballot in a primary election; and
9 B. For a legislative candidate who is not on a ballot in a primary election, the
10 contribution limit in any one election cycle is the same as a legislative candidate who
11 is on the ballot in a primary election.
12SUMMARY
13 This bill applies the same contribution limit in any one election cycle to a gubernatorial
14 or legislative candidate who is not on the ballot in a primary election as a gubernatorial or
15 legislative candidate who is on the ballot in primary election.
