1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 22 MRSA c. 279 is enacted to read:
3CHAPTER 279
4WARMING SHELTERS
5§1700-F. Warming shelters required
6 A county or municipality in this State shall make available a warming shelter, at an
7 appropriate venue accessible to the public, whenever the temperature is expected to be
8 below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The warming shelter must be open outside the normal
9 operating hours of the venue providing the warming shelter.
10SUMMARY
11 This bill requires each county and municipality in this State to make available a
12 warming shelter, at an appropriate venue accessible to the public, to be open outside the
13 normal operating hours of the venue, whenever the temperature is expected to be below 40
14 degrees Fahrenheit.
