1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 28-B MRSA §115 is enacted to read:
3§115. Radiation treatment and ozonation equipment
41. Radiation treatment and ozonation equipment. Equipment used to treat adult use
5 cannabis or an adult use cannabis product with radiation or ozone must be registered with
6 the office, subject to inspection under subsection 2. The office shall make a list of
7 equipment under this section available, including on a publicly accessible website.
82. Inspection and operation. The office, in coordination with the division of
9 environmental and community health within the Department of Health and Human
10 Services, shall:
11 A. Inspect equipment under subsection 1 prior to approving the equipment for
12 registration; and
13 B. Develop guidance for the equipment's operation, including worker and product
14 safety.
153. Rules. The office shall adopt rules to carry out the purposes of this section. Rules
16 adopted pursuant to this subsection are routine technical rules under Title 5, chapter 375,
17 subchapter 2-A.
18Sec. 2. 28-B MRSA §701, sub-§1, ¶K, as enacted by PL 2017, c. 409, Pt. A, §6
19 and amended by PL 2021, c. 669, §5, is further amended to read:
20 K. For edible cannabis products, a nutritional fact panel; and
21Sec. 3. 28-B MRSA §701, sub-§1, ¶K-1 is enacted to read:
22 K-1. Information on any radiation treatment or ozonation applied to the cannabis or
23 cannabis product; and
24SUMMARY
25 This bill requires that adult use cannabis or adult use cannabis products be labeled with
26 information on any radiation treatment or ozonation applied to the cannabis or cannabis
27 product. The bill also requires equipment used for radiation treatment or ozonation of adult
28 use cannabis or an adult use cannabis product to be inspected and registered by the
29 Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Office of Cannabis Policy.
