1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 38 MRSA §3102, sub-§2-A is enacted to read:
32-A. Closure device. "Closure device" means the part of a beverage container that
4 closes or seals the container. "Closure device" includes, but is not limited to, a cap, cover,
5 lid, cork, plug or similar device. A closure device does not need to be removable in order
6 for the contents of the beverage container to be consumed.
7SUMMARY
8 Current law prohibits the sale of a beverage to a consumer in a container composed of
9 one or more plastics if the basic structure of the container, exclusive of the closure device,
10 also includes aluminum or steel. This bill enacts a definition of "closure device."
