1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 36 MRSA §662 is enacted to read:
3§662. Reimbursement to Town of Charleston
4 The Treasurer of State shall annually reimburse the Town of Charleston an amount
5 equal to 43% of the property tax revenue loss suffered by the town during the previous
6 calendar year as a result of the exemption from property tax afforded to the Mountain View
7 Correctional Facility pursuant to section 651.
8SUMMARY
9 This bill requires the Treasurer of State to annually reimburse the Town of Charleston
10 for 43% of the property tax revenue loss suffered by the town in the previous calendar year
11 as a result of the tax exemption that applies to the Mountain View Correctional Facility.
