1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 3 MRSA §994, sub-§11, as amended by PL 2005, c. 104, §2, is further
3 amended to read:
411. Information available to committee. To receive certain information.
5 Information Except as provided in subsection 11-A, information that is made available to
6 the committee is governed by chapter 21, which governs legislative investigating
7 committees, and by Title 1, chapter 13, which governs public records and proceedings; and
8Sec. 2. 3 MRSA §994, sub-§11-A is enacted to read:
911-A. Information received from subpoena. To receive papers or records provided
10 in response to a subpoena issued pursuant to subsection 8. Notwithstanding any provision
11 of law to the contrary, papers or records received by the committee under this subsection
12 are confidential; and
13SUMMARY
14 This bill provides that the Government Oversight Committee has access to papers or
15 records received as a result of a subpoena issued by the committee and that those papers or
16 records are confidential and exempt from public disclosure.
