1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §1125, sub-§3, ¶F, as enacted by PL 2019, c. 323, §29, is
3 amended to read:
4 F. A contributor may make a qualifying contribution to a participating candidate in the
5 form of cash, as long as the contributor signs a form prepared by the commission
6 affirming that the contributor made the contribution with personal funds. A candidate
7 receiving qualifying contributions in cash shall submit the contributions to the
8 commission in the aggregate in the form of a cashier's check or money order payable
9 to the fund. The candidate may not deposit qualifying contributions received in cash
10 into the candidate's campaign account.
11SUMMARY
12 This bill eliminates the requirement that contributors making qualifying contributions
13 in the form of cash to a participating candidate in the Maine Clean Election Act sign a form
14 affirming that the contributor made the contribution with personal funds.
