1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 2 MRSA §11 is enacted to read:
3§11. Relocation of illegal immigrants
4 Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the Governor may not relocate
5 illegal immigrants into this State or take any other actions intended to authorize, approve
6 or otherwise assist in the relocation or transportation of illegal immigrants into this State.
7 As used in this section, "illegal immigrant" means a person who is not lawfully present in
8 the United States.
9SUMMARY
10 This bill provides that the Governor may not relocate illegal immigrants into this State
11 or take any other actions intended to authorize, approve or otherwise assist in the relocation
12 or transportation of illegal immigrants into this State. As used in the bill, "illegal
13 immigrant" means a person who is not lawfully present in the United States.
