1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §2074, sub-§1, ¶D, as amended by PL 2005, c. 577, §30, is
3 further amended to read:
4 D. Forty-five miles per hour on all other public ways unless otherwise posted; and ,
5 except that on a public way where at least one residence is within 15 feet of the public
6 way, the following maximum rates of speed apply:
7 (1) Twenty-five miles per hour for a snowplow and equipment used by the
8 department exclusively for the removal of snow on the public way;
9 (2) Twenty-five miles per hour for a vehicle with at least 5 axles; and
10 (3) Thirty-five miles per hour for all other vehicles; and
11SUMMARY
12 Except when conditions or other regulations require a lower speed, this bill sets the
13 maximum rates of speed for a public way where at least one residence is within 15 feet of
14 the public way as follows:
15 1. Twenty-five miles per hour for a snowplow and equipment used by the Department
16 of Transportation exclusively for the removal of snow on the public way;
17 2. Twenty-five miles per hour for a vehicle with at least 5 axles; and
18 3. Thirty-five miles per hour for all other vehicles.
