Resolve, Requiring the Director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands to Convey
Certain Real Property in the Town of Richmond
Preamble. The Constitution of Maine, Article IX, Section 23 requires that real estate
held by the State for conservation or recreation purposes may not be reduced or its uses
substantially altered except on the vote of 2/3 of all members elected to each House; and
Whereas, certain real estate authorized for conveyance by this resolve is under the
designations described in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 12, section 598-A; and
Whereas, the Director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands within the Department of
Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry may sell, lease or exchange lands with the approval
of the Legislature in accordance with the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 12, sections 1814,
1837 and 1851; now, therefore, be it
Sec. 1. Director of Bureau of Parks and Lands directed to convey certain
land in Town of Richmond. Resolved: That, notwithstanding any provision of law to
the contrary, the Director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands within the Department of
Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry shall by quitclaim deed and without covenant
convey the State's interest in property described in section 2 to Wilhelmine Dennis Oakes
or the estate of Wilhelmine Dennis Oakes. Any legal or closing costs of the conveyance
may not be paid by the bureau.
Sec. 2. Property interests to be conveyed. Resolved: That the property required
to be conveyed pursuant to section 1 is a parcel of land of approximately 7 acres with
improvements thereon, located in the Town of Richmond and shown as Lot 67 on Map R6
of the Town of Richmond tax assessor maps.
