1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §10912 is enacted to read:
3§10912. Priority for parents or pregnant individuals to register for courses
4 The trustees shall ensure that a parent or pregnant individual who is enrolled at the
5 university receives priority in registering for courses for the purpose of scheduling the
6 courses around the parent's child care. The trustees shall distribute flyers and posters
7 informing students of the right of parents and pregnant individuals to priority registration
8 for courses. The posters must be displayed in appropriate places at each campus of the
9 university and on the publicly accessible website of each campus of the university.
10SUMMARY
11 This bill requires the Trustees of the University of Maine System to ensure that a parent
12 or pregnant individual who is enrolled in the University of Maine System receives priority
13 in registering for courses for the purpose of scheduling the courses around the parent's child
14 care. This bill requires the trustees to distribute flyers and posters informing students of the
15 right of parents and pregnant individuals to priority registration for courses. It also requires
16 that the posters be displayed in appropriate places at each campus of the University of
17 Maine System and on the publicly accessible website of each campus of the University of
18 Maine System.
