1Sec. 1. Department of Education to study the impacts of artificial
2intelligence, cellular telephones and social media on public education.
3Resolved: That the Department of Education shall establish a working group to study and
4 make recommendations regarding the use of artificial intelligence, cellular telephones and
5 social media within public school settings. The Commissioner of Education shall select
6 members of the working group and include relevant stakeholders. No later than December
7 3, 2025, the working group shall submit a report that includes its findings and
8 recommendations, including suggested legislation, for presentation to the Joint Standing
9 Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs. The joint standing committee may report
10 out a bill related to the report to the Second Regular Session of the 132nd Legislature.
11SUMMARY
12 This resolve directs the Department of Education to establish a working group to study
13 and make recommendations regarding the use of artificial intelligence, cellular telephones
14 and social media within public school settings. The Commissioner of Education is directed
15 to select members of the working group and include relevant stakeholders. The working
16 group is required, no later than December 3, 2025, to submit a report that includes its
17 findings and recommendations, including suggested legislation, for presentation to the
18 Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs. The joint standing committee
19 is authorized to report out a bill related to the report to the Second Regular Session of the
20 132nd Legislature.
