1Sec. 1. Board of Licensure in Medicine and Board of Osteopathic
2Licensure study. Resolved: That the Board of Licensure in Medicine and Board of
3 Osteopathic Licensure shall conduct a study regarding the feasibility of combining into a
4 single board that licenses and regulates physicians and physician assistants. In conducting
5 the study, the boards shall ensure that the primary purpose of protecting the public is the
6 paramount consideration in the formation of a single board.
7Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, by December 31, 2025, the Board of Licensure in
8 Medicine and Board of Osteopathic Licensure shall submit a report based on the study
9 conducted in section 1 to the Joint Standing Committee on Health Coverage, Insurance and
10 Financial Services. The committee is authorized to submit legislation related to the report
11 to the Second Regular Session of the 132nd Legislature.
12SUMMARY
13 This resolve directs the Board of Licensure in Medicine and Board of Osteopathic
14 Licensure to conduct a study regarding the feasibility of combining into a single board that
15 licenses and regulates physicians and physician assistants. The boards are required to
16 submit a report based on the evaluation by December 31, 2025 to the Joint Standing
17 Committee on Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services, which may submit
18 legislation related to the report to the Second Regular Session of the 132nd Legislature.
