1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 30 MRSA c. 605 is enacted to read:

4STATE RECOGNITION OF KINEO ST. JOHN TRIBE
5§7301. Recognition of Kineo St. John Tribe
61. Recognition. The Kineo St. John Tribe is recognized by the State as a Native
7 American tribe.
82. Effect of recognition. Recognition of the Kineo St. John Tribe may not be
9 construed to create, extend or form the basis of any right or claim to land or real estate in
10 the State or any right to conduct gambling activities prohibited by law. The Kineo St. John
11 Tribe and the individual members of the tribe remain subject to all the laws of the State.
12SUMMARY
13 This bill provides for state recognition of the Kineo St. John Tribe as a Native
14 American tribe. Recognition does not create, extend or form the basis of any right or claim
15 to land or real estate in the State or any right to conduct gambling activities prohibited by
16 law. The Kineo St. John Tribe and the individual members of the tribe remain subject to
17 all the laws of the State.
