1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §15689, sub-§1, ¶B, as amended by PL 2017, c. 284, Pt. C,
3 §50, is further amended by amending subparagraph (15) to read:
4 (15) In fiscal year 2019-20, 45%; and
5Sec. 2. 20-A MRSA §15689, sub-§1, ¶B, as amended by PL 2017, c. 284, Pt. C,
6 §50, is further amended by amending subparagraph (16) to read:
7 (16) In fiscal year 2020-21 and succeeding years in each succeeding fiscal year
8 prior to fiscal year 2026-27, 50% .; and
9Sec. 3. 20-A MRSA §15689, sub-§1, ¶B, as amended by PL 2017, c. 284, Pt. C,
10 §50, is further amended by enacting a new subparagraph (17) to read:
11 (17) In fiscal year 2026-27 and in succeeding fiscal years, 100%.
12SUMMARY
13 This bill provides that, beginning in fiscal year 2026-27, the minimum state share of a
14 school administrative unit's special education costs under the essential programs and
15 services school funding formula must be 100%.
