1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §10001, sub-§60, as affected by PL 2003, c. 614, §9 and
3 amended by c. 655, Pt. B, §10 and affected by §422, is further amended to read:
460. Sunrise. "Sunrise" means, for a given location in the State, the time computed
5 and established for sunrise for Bangor, Maine, by the Nautical Almanac Office that location
6 by the Astronomical Applications Department of the United States Naval Observatory,
7 converted to the legal standard of time in force in this State on that day.
8Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §10001, sub-§61, as affected by PL 2003, c. 614, §9 and
9 amended by c. 655, Pt. B, §10 and affected by §422, is further amended to read:
1061. Sunset. "Sunset" means, for a given location in the State, the time computed and
11 established for sunset for Bangor, Maine, by the Nautical Almanac Office that location by
12 the Astronomical Applications Department of the United States Naval Observatory,
13 converted to the legal standard of time in force in this State on that day.
14SUMMARY
15 This bill amends the inland fisheries and wildlife law to change the entity within the
16 United States Naval Observatory that the State relies upon to determine the times for
17 sunrise and sunset from the Nautical Almanac Office to the Astronomical Applications
18 Department and removes references to Bangor, Maine.
