1Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
2Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §14 is enacted to read:
3§14. Community Partnerships with Public School Systems Grant Program
4 The Community Partnerships with Public School Systems Grant Program is established
5 in the department to encourage the creation of partnerships between public and private
6 colleges and universities, community action agencies or equivalent agencies and public
7 school systems. The program must provide grants for the purpose of offering services and
8 addressing issues related to mental health, public health, staff development or other issues
9 identified by the community or schools.
10Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and
11 allocations are made.

14 Initiative: Provides one-time funds for grants to public schools and community partners
15 including colleges and universities, community action agencies or other equivalent
16 agencies for the purpose of offering services and addressing issues related to mental health,
17 public health, staff development or other issues identified by the community or schools.

18SUMMARY
19 This bill establishes the Community Partnerships with Public School Systems Grant
20 Program in the Department of Education to encourage the creation of partnerships between
21 public and private colleges and universities, community action agencies or equivalent
22 agencies and public school systems. It requires the program to provide grants for the
23 purpose of offering services and addressing issues related to mental health, public health,
24 staff development or other issues identified by the community or schools. It also makes a
25 one-time appropriation of $500,000 in fiscal year 2025-26 to support the program.
