Electric Companies – Service Outages and Rate Increases – Report on Customer 2

FOR the purpose of requiring each electric company to report to the Public Service 4
Commission, on or before a certain date each year, geographic and demographic data 5
on all customers impacted by certain service outages and rate increase s for the 6
immediately preceding year; and generally relating to electric companies. 7

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 13
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 14

Article – Public Utilities 15

7–108.1. 16

ON OR BEFORE APRIL 1 EACH YEAR , EACH ELECTRIC COMPAN Y SHALL 17
REPORT TO THE COMMISSION THE FOLLOWING INFORM ATION FOR THE 18
IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING YEAR: 19

(1) GEOGRAPHIC AND DEMOGRAPHIC DATA ON ALL CUSTOMERS 20
IMPACTED BY: 21

(I) A SERVICE OUTAGE LASTING 2 HOURS OR LONGER; 22
2 HOUSE BILL 642

(II) A SERVICE OUTAGE FOR SCHEDULED MAINTE NANCE, 1
REGARDLESS OF THE DURATION; AND 2

(III) EACH SERVICE OUTAGE , REGARDLESS OF DURATI ON, 3
OCCURRING DURING AN INCLEMENT WEATHER EVENT, INCLUDING THE AMOUNT OF 4
TIME UNTIL SERVICE WAS RESTORED; AND 5

(2) GEOGRAPHIC AND DEMOG RAPHIC DATA ON ALL CUSTOMERS 6
IMPACTED BY A RATE INCREASE. 7

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 8
October 1, 2026. 9
