Office of Home Energy Programs – Uniform Redetermination Process – Age 2

FOR the purpose of reducing the age at which certain eligible energy customers qualify for 3
a certain redetermination process for enrollment in energy assistance programs; and 4
generally relating to the Office of Home Energy Programs and ene rgy assistance 5
programs. 6

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, 7

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 12
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 13

5–5A–09. 15

(a) (1) The Office shall develop a uniform redetermination process to assist 16
eligible energy customers who are at least [65] 60 years old in enrolling in energy 17
assistance programs. 18

2 HOUSE BILL 648

(2) The redetermination process developed under paragraph (1) of this 1
subsection shall be updated annually. 2

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 3
1, 2026. 4
