AN ACT concerning 1

Health – Abortion Data – Submission to the Centers for Disease Control and 2
Prevention 3

FOR the purpose of requiring the Maryland Department of Health to submit to the Centers 4
for Disease Control and Prevention any data regarding abortion requested by the 5
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unless submitting the data would 6
violate federal or State law; and generally relating to the submission of abortion data 7
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 8

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 14
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 15

2 HOUSE BILL 714

(A) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION, THE 1
DEPARTMENT SHALL SUBM IT TO THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND 2
PREVENTION ANY DATA REGARDING ABORTION REQUESTED BY THE CENTERS FOR 3
DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION. 4

(B) THE DEPARTMENT MAY REFUSE TO SUBMIT DATA REQUE STED UNDER 5
SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION IF SUBM ITTING THE DATA WOUL D BE IN 6
VIOLATION OF FEDERAL OR STATE LAW. 7

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 8
October 1, 2026. 9
