SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 1
That Section(s) 7–417 through 7–421 of Article – General Provisions of the Annotated Code 2
of Maryland be renumbered to be Section(s) 7–418 through 7–422, respectively. 3

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of Maryland read 4
as follows: 5

THE GOVERNOR ANNUALLY SHA LL PROCLAIM OCTOBER 1 AS PURPLE 8
LIGHTS NIGHT TO HONOR THE IN DIVIDUALS IN THE STATE WHO ARE VICTIMS OR 9
SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND EXPRESS SUPPORT FOR THE ELIMINATION 10
OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN THE STATE. 11

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 12
1, 2026. 13
