FOR the purpose of altering the salary for the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney ; 4
providing that this Act does not apply to the salary or compensation of the incumbent 5
State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County; and generally relating to the salary of 6
the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney. 7

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 18
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 19

(a) This section applies only in Prince George’s County. 2
(b) (1) The State’s Attorney’s salary is [$199,000] $250,000. 3
(2) The State’s Attorney’s salary and expenses shall be paid in equal 4
semimonthly installments. 5
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That , in accordance with Article 6
III, § 35 of the Maryland Constitution, this Act may not be construed to extend or apply to 7
the salary or compensation of the State’s Attorney of Prince George’s County while serving 8
in a term of office beginning before the effective date of this A ct, but the provisions of this 9
Act concerning the salary or compensation of the State’s Attorney of Prince George’s County 10
shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office. This limitation does 11
not apply to an individual appointed or elected after the effective date of this Act to fill out 12
an expired term. 13
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 14
October 1, 2026. 15
