AN ACT concerning 1

Commercial Driver’s Instructional Permits – School Vehicles – Knowledge Test 2

FOR the purpose of authorizing certain school vehicle driver trainers to administer the 3
commercial driver’s instructional permit knowledge test to applicants for a 4
commercial driver’s license – school bus endorsement; and generally relating to the 5
knowledge test for commercial driver’s instructional permits for school vehicles. 6

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 12
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 13

(A) IN THIS SECTION , “SCHOOL VEHICLE DRIVER TRAINER” MEANS AN 16
INDIVIDUAL WHO PROVIDES FOR COMMERCIAL DRIVE R’S LICENSE – SCHOOL BUS 17
ENDORSEMENT APPLICANTS: 18

(1) CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION FOR THE COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S 19
INSTRUCTIONAL PERMIT KNOWLEDGE TEST; 20

(2) HIGHWAY DRIVING INSTRUCTION; AND 21

(3) INSTRUCTION ON STATE AND FEDERAL SAFETY STANDARDS. 22

SCHOOL BOARD MAY ADMINISTER THE COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S INSTRUCTIONAL 2
PERMIT KNOWLEDGE TEST TO COMMERCIAL DRIVER ’S LICENSE – SCHOOL BUS 3
ENDORSEMENT APPLICANTS. 4

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 5
1, 2026. 6
