AN ACT concerning 1
Health Insurance – Ovarian Cancer Prevention With Salpingectomy – Required 2
Coverage and Prohibited Cost Sharing 3
FOR the purpose of requiring certain insurers, nonprofit health service plans, and health 4
maintenance organizations to provide individuals with salpingectomy coverage for 5
ovarian cancer prevention; prohibiting the insurers, nonprofit health service plans, 6
and health maintenance organizations from imposing a copayment, coinsurance, or 7
deductible requirement on the salpingectomy coverage; and generally relating to 8
insurance coverage for salpingectomies for ovarian cancer prevention. 9

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 15
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 16

(A) THIS SECTION APPLIES TO: 19

(1) INSURERS AND NONPROF IT HEALTH SERVICE PL ANS THAT 1
PROVIDE HOSPITAL, MEDICAL, OR SURGICAL BENEFITS TO INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS 2
ON AN EXPENSE–INCURRED BASIS UNDER HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES THAT ARE 3
ISSUED OR DELIVERED IN THE STATE; AND 4
(2) HEALTH MAINTENANCE O RGANIZATIONS THAT PR OVIDE 5
HOSPITAL, MEDICAL, OR SURGICAL BENEFITS TO INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS UNDER 6
CONTRACTS THAT ARE ISSUED OR DELIVERED IN THE STATE. 7
(B) AN ENTITY SUBJECT TO THIS SECTION SHALL PROVIDE AN INDIVIDUAL 8
WITH SALPINGECTOMY COVERAGE FOR OVARIAN CANCER PREVENTION. 9
(C) (1) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION , 10
AN ENTITY SUBJECT TO THIS SECTION MAY NOT IMPOSE A COPAYMENT , 11
COINSURANCE, OR DEDUCTIBLE REQUIR EMENT ON SALPINGECTOMY COV ERAGE 12
FOR OVARIAN CANCER PREVENTION. 13
(2) IF AN INSURED OR ENRO LLEE IS COVERED UNDE R A 14
HIGH–DEDUCTIBLE HEALTH PL AN, AS DEFINED IN 26 U.S.C. § 223, AN ENTITY 15
SUBJECT TO THIS SECT ION MAY SUBJECT SALPINGECTOMY COVERAGE FOR 16
OVARIAN CANCER PREVENTION TO THE DEDUCTIBLE RE QUIREMENT OF THE 17
HIGH–DEDUCTIBLE PLAN. 18
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall apply to all 19
policies, contracts, and health benefit plans issued, delivered, or renewed in the State on or 20
after January 1, 2027. 21
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 22
January 1, 2027. 23
