AN ACT concerning 1
Caroline County Board of Education – Member Compensation – Increase 2
FOR the purpose of increasing the annual compensation of the president and voting 3
members of the Caroline County Board of Education; and generally relating to the 4
compensation of the members of the Caroline County Board of Education. 5

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 16
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 17

2 SENATE BILL 705
(a) The Caroline County Board of Education consists of: 1
(1) Three elected members; 2
(2) Two appointed members; and 3
(3) Two nonvoting student members. 4
3–3A–05. 5
(a) The president of the county board is entitled to receive [$4,000] $6,000 6
annually as compensation, and the other voting members are entitled to receive [$3,500] 7
$5,500 each annually as compensation. 8
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, in accordance with Article 9
III, § 35 of the Maryland Constitution, this Act may not be construed to extend or apply to 10
the salary or compensation of the president or other voting members of the Caroline County 11
Board of Education while serving in a term of office beginning before the effective date of 12
this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or compensation of the 13
president and other voting members of the Caroline County Board of Education shall take 14
effect at the beginning of the next following term of office. This limitation does not apply to 15
an individual appointed or elected after the effective date of this Act to fill out an unexpired 16
term. 17
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect July 18
1, 2026. 19
