FOR the purpose of exempting farm area motor vehicles from the requirement for a motor 3
vehicle to carry required security; and generally relating to farm area motor vehicles. 4

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, 15
That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: 16

13–935. 18

(a) (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated. 19

(2) “Farm area motor vehicle” means a motor vehicle owned by a farmer 20
and operated only on a farm or on a highway within a 25–mile radius of the farm. 21

This subtitle does not apply to the following vehicles and their drivers: 1

(1) Except for a vehicle registered under § 13 –935(d) of this article, farm 2
equipment or special mobile equipment incidentally operated on a highway or on other 3
property open to the public; [or] 4

(2) A vehicle operated on a highway only to cross the highway from one 5
property to another; OR 6

(3) A FARM AREA MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTERED UNDER § 13–935 OF 7
THIS ARTICLE. 8

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect 9
October 1, 2026. 10
